About SICO
SICO founded in 1977 is a union for Swedish ice hockey players and foreigners playing in Sweden. SICO represents the players in negotiations with club organizations (SHL and HA) and with the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation (SIF). In the last case, mainly concerning payment for playing in any of the national teams. SICO´s main task, however, is to help players being mistreated in one way or another by their clubs.
Since 1991, SICO has maintained a close co-operation with The Salaried Employees´ Union HTF, a major Swedish trade union. This co-operation means that SICO has great possibilities for legal help in conflicts between players and clubs. As a result of the co-operation a collective bargaining agreement was signed between clubs and players in Elitserien (see below!) on October 28 1999. It was the very first agreement of its kind within the field of sports in Sweden.
SICO is also a member of The International Ice Hockey Players´ Association, founded in Stockholm 1995
